Terms of Use
What using Uncover Ed means
Reading uncover-ed.org, following its links or sending it a message means you accept the conditions on this page. They are short because the site is simple: articles about university history, Edinburgh and student life, offered for reading. Questions can go to [email protected].
General information, not official guidance
Articles are general information and personal commentary. They are not admissions advice, legal or immigration guidance, tenancy advice or financial planning. Rules on fees, visas, housing contracts, course content and campus access differ by institution and change often, so confirm anything that affects your decisions with the university, the landlord or the relevant authority. Historical accounts reflect the sources available when they were written, and scholars sometimes disagree about dates and causes.
Who owns the writing
The text, structure and original material on Uncover Ed belong to the operator or are used with permission. You are welcome to read, link to and quote a few lines with clear credit. Taking whole articles, posting them on another site or building them into something sold needs written permission first.
Respectful use
Do not attempt to break into the site, flood it with automated requests, introduce harmful code or use it to send spam. Keep your use lawful and free of harassment toward other readers or toward the people who write in. Where it is needed to protect the site, the operator may block a visitor or a pattern of traffic.
Anything you send in
When you submit a correction, an anecdote about student life or a suggestion for a topic, you confirm that you have the right to share it. You permit us to read it and use the idea to improve the site, with no obligation to reply or publish.
Advertising, affiliate links and outside sites
Uncover Ed may carry advertising and affiliate links, which can earn the operator a small commission at no extra cost to you. A commission is never the reason a point appears in an article. Pages may point to university websites, archives, city services, books, accommodation listings or travel and study tools. Those sites sit outside the control of Uncover Ed, so the people running a prospectus page, a flat listing or a bus timetable are responsible for what it says. Check dates, prices and entry requirements there before you rely on them.
Limits on promises and liability
Uncover Ed is offered in its current state, without a promise that it will always be online. As far as the law permits, the operator does not promise that articles are complete, current or free of error, and is not liable for loss arising from using the site or relying on it when choosing a course, a flat or a route across the city. Statutory rights that cannot be signed away, and any liability the law does not allow to be excluded, are left untouched by these terms.
Updates and severability
We may revise these terms or the site at any time, and revised terms apply once posted. If a provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
